Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg is a graduate of the Wrocław University of Economics and the Warsaw School of Economics. She has also studied in Spain and in the Netherlands.
For many years she worked as a journalist for the Polish Television (TVP). From 2001 Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg had been a programme director for the Polish Television in Wroclaw and Vice-Chairman of the Polish Television S.A. Between the years 1995-2000 she has been the general director of the International Festival of Oratorio and Cantata Music – Wratislavia Cantans.
In 2002 she ran for the presidency of Wrocław, and, lost to the current president - Rafał Dutkiewicz (nevertheless, she obtained 36% of the votes).
Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2004. During her first term she was appointed as Vice-Chairwoman of the Committee on Legal Affairs (2006-2009); member of the Committees on Rural Development, Committee on Budgets, Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality, and Committee on Petitions (2004-2009).
In 2009 Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg was re-elected for a second term as a Member of the European Parliament. While continuing her work in the Committee on Legal Affairs, Committee on Budgets and Committee on Petitions, she was also elected to the position of Quaestor of the European Parliament and Member of the Parliament Bureau.
In the mid-term elections of January 2012 she was confirmed again to the position of Quaestor and Member of the Parliament Bureau.
In July 2013 Lidia Geringer de Oedenberg also joined the delegation for relations with the United States.
